Ready or not, it’s time for Week 2 of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, and this matchup pits a pair of old East Division rivals. Of course, Jorina of the Philadelphia Angels and Kelsey of the Buffalo Bandettes don’t play lacrosse on the NLL rug so they may not have that particular vantage point, but it doesn’t matter where you are in the building when these teams meet because the energy is palpable. But before we get to the voting for these 2 dancers, it’s important to know that Chantelle of the Edmonton Crush opened this year’s tournament with a solid win over Emilie of the Rochester Knightingales with a 700-48 victory. The National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest has been going strong since we lit up our servers in 2008. And as we kick off the matchups for the 2014 season, we expect nothing less than high-peaked interest. So what better way to get it all started than with an East vs. West matchup? The Toronto Rock held their free agent and rookie camp for players last weekend, but another part of the team is getting ready for the 2014 National Lacrosse League season too: The Toronto Rock cheerleaders. Check it out as the ladies put on their 2014 gear for the first time and get a behind-the-scenes look at the squad’s photo shoot for 2014.
All you need is a smile and some dance moves. Well, there’s more to it than that. But those qualities certainly are the most visible for dance team members of National Lacrosse League squads. Which brings us to the point of these words: the dance teams of the Calgary Roughnecks, the Edmonton Rush and Vancouver Stealth are holding auditions for their various squads. The Toronto Rock Cheerleaders held their auditions Sunday for the 2014 National Lacrosse League season. And the Toronto Rock has provided video of the auditions. That’s really about all that needs to be said because we know you’d rather see the dancers than read about them, so here ya go.
It started back in early February and here we are at the end of May. That’s 15 long and teasingly playful weeks of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest. And what it’s come down to is one champion, who is to be crowned the NLL Girl of the Year by ILIndoor. So many of the matchups were intriguing with blondes squaring off against brunettes and dancers from East teams facing off against dancers from West teams. And so here, on May 21, 2013, ILIndoor presents to your NLL Girl of the Year: Jacq, of the Calgary Drill Crew. The 2013 National Lacrosse League season was put to bed just 3 days ago. And so, we move to do the same with ILIndoor’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest. Your votes throughout the season have been strong and plentiful, so we expect nothing less of our matchup for the final, which pits Allie of the Colorado Wild Bunch against Jacq of the Calgary Drill Crew. It wasn’t a happy ending to the season for the West Division of the NLL as the Rochester Knighthawks of the East downed the Washington Stealth on Saturday to win it all. It’s Jacq of the Calgary Drill Crew, who advances to the final by virtue of a vote count of 27,811 to 10,514 for April of the Philadelphia Angels. National Lacrosse League teams in Calgary, Washington, Minnesota and Rochester are preparing for semifinal games this weekend. But today, we have dance team members in Calgary and Philadelphia getting the semifinals started. Jacq of Calgary’s Drill Crew is up against April of the Philadelphia Angels. The winner of this matchup takes on either Allie of the Colorado Wild Bunch or Brianna of the Buffalo Bandettes. Brianna was our final dancer to advance from the quarterfinals as both dancers pulled in a ton of votes. But it was Brianna who outpolled Leah by a count of 19,033 to 15,375.
