Congratulations to Joscelyn of the Edmonton Crush, who wins this year’s edition of ILIndoor’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Year contest. When the final poll opened last Tuesday, it was a given that the 2014 winner would be a member of the Edmonton Crush as Joscelyn took on Crush teammate Chantelle. So as teammates went to battle for the top honor, it was Joscelyn who emerged the winner with 6,61 votes to Chantelle’s 2,418. Josceyln’s title comes after voting victories over Brittany of Vancouver, Michelle of Calgary, Krista of Calgary and today, Chantelle of Edmonton. So congratulations to Joscelyn, this year’s winner of ILIndoor’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Year title.

And after all that, we end up with this. It’s an all-Edmonton final for our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, which this week turns into the Girl of the Year contest. Joscelyn rolled to a sizeable win over Toronto’s Krista in last week’s semifinal by a count of 18,060 votes to 7,193. That means Joscelyn moves on to the final, where she is up against fellow Edmonton Crush dancer Chantelle, who has posted some impressive wins in her run to the final. So if you’ve been voting all along this season, here’s your chance to take part in the final. And no matter who wins this, the City of Champions will have another champion to add to the list. Another week, another National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest. Except that this latest one gives us a finalist for the 2014 contest and that turns out to be Chantelle of the Edmonton Crush. She doesn’t have a team to cheer for in the Champion’s Cup final, but she apparently has a lot of people and computers voting for her, as evidenced by her victory over Toronto’s Norah Jean by a count of 13,662 to 12,085. Impressive, for sure. But that’s that, and now we move on to the other semifinal, which features another Edmonton vs. Toronto matchup as Joscelyn of the Crush takes on Krista of the Rock. There is a distinct theme that’s unfolded in our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week poll, thanks to Krista’s win over Amy this past week. Not only was Krista’s victory (9,461 votes to 9,091) one of the closest in the history of this tournament, it was the last quarterfinal matchup of this tournament, meaning we’re all set now for the semifinals. And if you’ve been paying attention, you’d notice that we now have a big battle going on between Edmonton and Toronto. The final 4 of this tournament give us 2 dancers from each city and we get it started with Chantelle of Edmonton going against Norah Jean of Toronto. READ MORE »

The Battle of Alberta wasn’t much of a battle after all. Wait, what? Oh, you’re thinking of the 12-11 overtime thriller won by the Calgary Roughnecks, right? Well, we’re talking about the latest matchup of the National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week, in which Joscelyn of the Edmonton Crush steamrolled past Michelle of the Calgary Drill Crew. And considering Joscelyn pulled in 13,509 votes to Michelle’s 2,272 votes, you see what we mean about it not being much of a battle. But in this league, you’ve got to have a short memory and we’ll help you do that by introducing you to Amy of the Rochester Knightingales and Krista of the Toronto Rock, our contestants in the fourth and final quarterfinal of this tournament. It’s 2 quarterfinal rounds down, 2 more to go. The Toronto Rock may have lost last week on the National Lacrosse League floor, but the team’s dance team is alive and well as Norah Jean scored a win over Colorado’s Alyssa with a vote count of 30,110 to 27,519. There’s little doubt the interest is strong for our weekly matchups of NLL dancers, so we expect nothing less as we head to the next round. And who might that include? Glad you asked. Today, we give you Joscelyn of the Edmonton Crush and Michelle of the Calgary Drill Crew. And as it just so happens, these 2 teams will be on the floor this weekend for Game 1 of the West Division finals. READ MORE »

More than 182,000 votes were cast in last week’s National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week poll between Buffalo’s Kelsey and Edmonton’s Chantelle. So either both dancers have a ton of friends, or both dancers have computer programmer friends. In the case of this week’s winner, it’s pretty obvious the robots were on call as curiously, vote totals continued to climb even after the poll was closed to voting. That’s why you’ll see a “winning” vote total of nearly 150,000 votes on the poll today, but the reality is that the “winner” had 97,756 votes at the time we closed the poll. Either way, this poll’s in the books and Chantelle is moving on after Kelsey’s vote count of 84,741. The way we see it, we never stated that voting programs are against the rules because quite frankly, we didn’t think people would ever turn to that. It’s unfortunate that a “win” has to be manufactured so generically, but if “winning” like that feels good, then so be it. Our next quarterfinal matchup pits dancers from a pair of NLL playoff teams as Alyssa of the Colorado Mammoth takes on Norah Jean of the Toronto Rock. READ MORE »

So we’ve pretty much come full circle in our NLL Girl of the Week voting contest. Last week’s matchup between Amy of the Rochester Knightingales and Alexa of the Calgary Drill Crew resulted in a 4,907 to 3,493 win for Amy. So now we circle back and get the second round started with names we’re familiar with here because of their wins earlier in this tournament. So to get this quarterfinal round going, we present to you Chantelle of the Edmonton Crush up against Kelsey of the Buffalo Bandettes. READ MORE »

We’ve reached the final matchup of the first round for our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, so the only thing left to do is vote and keep this thing rolling. Last week’s matchup saw Toronto’s Krista steamroll past Danielle of Buffalo by a count of 4,039 to 1,028, which is a bit interesting because the Bandits and Rock are getting ready to square off this weekend. Is this a sign of things to come? We’ll know more late Saturday night but in the meantime, it’s time to introduce our contestants for the final first-round matchup: It’s Amy of the Rochester Knightingales and Alexa of the Calgary Drill Crew. Just like the Roughnecks on the floor, the Drill Crew in Calgary is all smiles these days. While the Roughnecks went 2-0 last weekend and clinched a National Lacrosse League playoff berth, Drill Crew member Michelle is a winner this week and moves on to the next round of our NLL Girl of the Week contest. Michelle moves on with a 2,281 to 1,807 win over Nikki of the Colorado Wild Bunch. So onward we go to the next matchup, with is the next-to-last of the first round. Who’s up this week? It’s Krista of the Toronto Rock against Danielle of the Buffalo Bandettes. READ MORE »
