The final weekend of the National Lacrosse League season concludes and boom, I come down with a fever of 104 degrees. Hence the delay in getting out this week’s IL Indoor NLL 3 Stars. It was a good weekend for a number of goalies, three of them posting save percentages in the high .800s, including two in the same game. Of course, there were some highlights on the offensive end as well, although it wasn’t a weekend where lots of guys put up a bunch of goals. There were seven hat tricks around the league and only two of those guys actually scored more than three goals. Make the jump to see who put up the most impressive performances of Week 18.
Cody Jamieson, Rochester Knighthawks
2 goals, 8 assists
With his fourth game of 10 or more points this season, Jamieson took the scoring title while breaking the 100-point mark for the first time. Rochester’s 16-14 win over Buffalo was a strange game, with teams breaking their scoring total from the previous week’s 8-4 game in the second quarter. But in both cases, the Knighthawks came away victorious, largely because of the continuously stellar play of their offensive leader.
Brandon Miller, Toronto Rock
47 saves on 53 shots, .887 save percentage
Miller gets the nod here ahead of the other two goalies with stellar save percentages because he led his team to a win it really needed to have. He has been consistently excellent since arriving from Philadelphia and gives the Rock the hot goalie you want to have going into the playoffs.
Adam Jones, Colorado Mammoth
5 goals, 2 assists
The top goal-scorer of the week, Jones is leaving little doubt that he’s back to full strength after his mid-season shoulder injury and, as with the Rock, he makes Colorado a dangerous third-place team entering the post-season.
Aaron Bold (Edmonton): 40/45, .889 save percentage. Was particularly good in the third quarter as Vancouver tried to battle back into the game with 14 shots, none of which he let in…Mark Steenhuis (Buffalo): 4g, 3a, 12LB. Just kept plugging away and helping the Bandits stay in the game with Rochester…Shawn Evans (Calgary): 3g, 4a, 8LB. Cracked the 100-point barrier for the second straight year and helped the Riggers to their 12th win of the season…Dane Dobbie (Calgary): 3g, 2a. Set the franchise record by reaching 51 goals. Only eight players have ever scored more in a season…Kevin Crowley (Philadelphia): 1g, 6a. Played feeder, helping four other players get at least eight shots, each of whom scored 2 or 3 goals…Joel Dalgarno (Colorado): 3g 2a. Also had one of just five forced turnovers with which the Mammoth were credited…Ryan Benesch (Buffalo): 3g, 6a. If it wasn’t Steenhuis it was Benesch keeping the Bandits in the hunt…Zach Higgins (Minnesota): 53/61, .869 save percentage. The most saves of any goalie in any game this year…Dan Dawson (Rochester): 1g, 6a. Another quietly effective night for Dawson, who finishes with 72 assists…Kyle Rubisch (Edmonton): 2g, 4FT. Hands up if you had Rubisch leading his team in goals in a game this year. Didn’t think so. One of the goals even came in an offensive set when he stayed up the floor, snagged a bouncing loosie and ducked to the net to tuck the ball home. The smile on his face heading to the bench was worth the price of admission.Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
