Vancouver Stealth romp 19-9 over Colorado Mammoth in only Friday night NLL game

The Vancouver Stealth were looking to snap a five-game losing streak when they went into Denver last night. Thanks to Brett Bucktooth going all Garrett Billings on the Colorado Mammoth, they were able to do so with ease. Bucktooth had a career night, scoring 6 goals and 6 assists to lead Vancouver to a 19-9 victory that evened the season series between the teams at two wins apiece and pulled the Stealth within a half game of third-place Colorado in the National Lacrosse League West Division.

The Stealth scored early and often, taking a 9-1 lead to basically put the game away after the first quarter. From there on out, the score was 10-8 for Vancouver as Colorado tried gamely to get back into it but were unable to dig out from the enormous early hole they found themselves in. Rhys Duch (4g, 7a), Cliff Smith (3g, 5a) and Tyler Digby (1g, 6a) also had big scoring nights for Vancouver. Tyler Richards made 39 saves to earn the win.

John Grant Jr. got on a roll for the Mammoth and wound up with 3 goals and 5 assists. Drew Westervelt scored 4 goals and added an assist while Sean Pollock and Casey Powell each had 3 assists. Neither Tye Belanger nor Dillon Ward had a lot of success in the Colorado net, as they gave up the 19 goals even though the Mammoth outshot the Stealth 48-47.
