In addition to the trade to acquire Bill Hostrawser from the Vancouver Stealth, the Toronto Rock also announced the release of veteran defenseman Stephen Hoar on Wednesday. To obtain Hostrawser, the Rock sent a third-round pick in the 2014 draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft to the Stealth. Hostrawswer, who played his Junior A lacrosse with the Orangeville Northmen and won the 2012 Minto Cup with Rock assistant coach Matt Sawyer as his coach with Orangeville, was a second-round pick for the Stealth in 2012. Hoar was in his 11th National Lacrosse League season and had been a constant on faceoffs for the Rock in recent seasons. In a weird twist, the Rock acquire a defensemen in Hostrawser who played against them last weekend. In that game, Hostrawser and Toronto rookie Mike Lum-Walker each received fighting penalties but as of today, are now teammates.
