The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLax) has announced its Week One Players of the Week for the 2014 Season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Andrew Potter – Niagara Lock Monsters – In two games this weekend Potter accumulated 11 points with 5 goals (1 short-handed, 2 penalty shots) and 6 assists.
Honourable mention goes to Barrie’s Tyler Gibbons who tallied a hat trick against the Lock Monsters on Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week: Connor Danko – Niagara Lock Monsters - Danko picked up 2 wins this weekend allowing only 10 goals over two games.
Honourable mention goes to Barrie’s Rob Koger. Koger picked up a goal in Saturday’s match up but, was steadfast against the Lock Monsters relentless offensive attack.
Transition Player of the Week: Nick Diachenko – Durham Turfdogs – Diachenko showed why the Buffalo Bandits picked him up in the 2013 draft scoring 1 goal and generating numerous chances with great hustle on both ends of the floor.
Honourable mention to Bryan Neufeld of the Niagara Lock Monsters. Neufeld had 7 assists over 2 games and was a major contributor to a Niagara offence that racked up 30 goals in two games.
Rookie of the Week: Tim Bergin – Niagara Lock Monsters – The 10th round draft pick in this season’s Entry Draft scored 2 goals this weekend and looks to be a force this season.
Honourable mention goes to Durham’s Dylan Goddard. Goddard led the Turfdogs on offence with 2 goals on Sunday.
