The BCJALL midget draft kicks off today at 1 p.m. (10 a.m. local time) and the Delta Islanders have made plenty of noise heading into the event. Of the 4 off-season trades made league-wide, 3 involve the Islanders and one of those deals sent today’s No. 1 pick to Delta. So the Islanders still have some noise left to make and whether they make Connor Frost the top overall choice or trade that choice away remains to be seen. Frost, of Port Moody, has signed a letter of intent to play NCAA lacrosse at North Carolina, but has expressed a desire to play Junior A lacrosse closer to home, perhaps Coquitlam. “We’re not opposed to trading (the pick),” Delta coach and assistant GM Doug Rennie told The Delta Optimist. “We still need to talk to Connor and find out what his thoughts are on playing in Delta but we will be doing what’s best for our organization moving forward.” Today’s draft will be conducted at the Poco Rec Centre.
