The Colorado Mammoth, off to a 1-3 start, have made some big changes early this National Lacrosse League season, not the least of which is the signing of veteran forward Athan Iannucci. The veteran right-hander was a surprise training camp cut for the Vancouver Stealth and maintains the parting was amicable. Still, you have to figure the motivation to prove he still belongs will be a strong fuel for his fire and he said as much on Wednesday. “The thing that excites me most about all this, though? The Colorado Mammoth believe in me. That is what’s most important to me as a player and I will work tirelessly to validate that faith,” Iannucci told The Province. Of course, the addition of Iannucci means the Mammoth had to part ways with someone else and they did that by releasing outright left-hander Jamie Lincoln and right-hander Jordan McBride. Colorado GM Steve Govett told ILIndoor that the return of Joel Dalgarno to the left side from the Hold Out List limited opportunities for others, and the Mammoth asked Lincoln to remain with the team on the practice squad, but he declined. Iannucci is expected to make his Mammoth debut on Friday against the team that cut him, the Vancouver Stealth.
