It was a long National Lacrosse League off-season and by the end of week two fans will finally get a look at all nine teams.
The return of Minny captain Andrew Suitor and a scoreless 3rd quarter for the purple and teal wasn’t enough to hold Rochester down as the Knighthawks picked up their first win of 2014 after raising their 2013 Championship banner. Also on Saturday, the Philadelphia Wings–led by alternate captain Jordan Hall’s five goals–stunned Buffalo fans who were hoping their Bandits would snap out of their 2013 funk. In the last game of the weekend, Edmonton, trailing after the first, scored six goals in the second quarter and held the lead over the Colorado Mammoth for the remainder of the game.
For the third consecutive year, the Calgary Roughnecks and Toronto Rock will face off in each team’s first game of the season. Who will come out on top Friday night as each team has been at the top of their respective division for each of the past two seasons? On Saturday, the Stealth, who moved from Everett, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia in the off-season, will play their first game of the season on the road in Colorado. Can the Mammoth bounce back after last week’s loss?
Fan votes were close in all three games last weekend, with fans correctly choosing the Wings and Knighthawks as winners on Saturday.
Who ya got in week 2? Will this be another banner year for the road team?
