They’re two of the best in the National Lacrosse League at the combination of stopping the other team from scoring and getting the ball up the floor to give their team a chance to do so. They’re also two of the best leaders in the game. Chris Corbeil is the newly minted captain of the Edmonton Rush. On this week’s edition of Boxla Beat, he talks about all the little things a captain does that you don’t really think about until you’re in the role. Corbeil also touches on what the Rush need to work on to build from their season-opening road win over the Colorado Mammoth, with whom they have a home rematch for their next game. Brodie Merrill used to be the Rush captain; now he wears the C for his third year with the Philadelphia Wings, where he’s continued with his loose-ball-scooping, breakout-leading ways. Merrill likes the way his young American teammate are picking up the indoor game and his guidance plays a big part in their early success, winning their opener in Buffalo. Listen to my conversations with the always interesting and enlightening Corbeil and Merrill on this week’s Boxla Beat on NLL Radio, the best of lacrosse radio.Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
