The St. Catharines Jr. A Athletics Lacrosse club are pleased to announce that Sean Allen has been named as the new General Manager. Sean will have assistance from Pat McCready. The Jr. A Athletics will retain Ian Rubel as the head coach. Assistant coaches at this time include Rob Taylor and Ian Llord. The St. Catharines Athletics lacrosse club has been in existence since 1877. The Athletics have captured the Minto Cup on 6 occasions. Allen has been a Head Lacrosse Coach in the St, Catharines Athletics Minor system since 2002. His teams have won Zone 9 Championships in 2011, 2008, and 2006; and were the Ontario Provincial Champions in 2006.
Since 2008, Sean has been the Assistant Coach for Team Ontario with the team winning the Canadian National Championships in 2011 and 2009; and they were Silver Medalists in the Peewee division in 2008. He is the Head Coach of the Ontario Legends field lacrosse team that participated in the 2011 Denver Shootout.
Sean has also run a series of winter box lacrosse development camps throughout southwestern Ontario since 2006. He was the Assistant to the General Manager of the 1992 & 1993 Back-to-Back World Champion Buffalo Bandits MILL. Sean is also the Canadian Business Development manager for 3d Lacrosse based in Denver, Colorado.
As a youth, Sean played box lacrosse for the St. Catharines Golden Eagles lacrosse club — winning Ontario Provincial titles in 1985 & 1987, as well as a Canadian Bantam Championship in 1985. In high school, Sean played field lacrosse as an attack for Laura Secord HS. He played his college lacrosse as an attackman for Brock University from 1994–1996. He was a member of the Niagara Junior B Spartan Warriors from 1992-1993 and the St. Catharines Junior “A” Athletics in 1992.
Sean’s father, Brian Allen, was the Jr. A Athletics President and General Manager when the Athletics won the Minto Cups in 1990 and 1991. Brian was recently (posthumously) inducted into the builder’s category of the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
