CLax announces new ownership group, dispersal draft set for Sunday

The Canadian Lacrosse League announced its initial plans for the 2014 season last week and CLax follows that with news of an upcoming dispersal draft as well as new ownership for the league. Over the weekend, the league announced that a collaborative effort between Rodney Hill (Ohsweken Demons) and the Charlesway Corporation (Niagara Lock Monsters and Barrie Blizzard) have formed Canadian Lacrosse League Holdings, which now owns CLax. Paul St. John, the league’s founder, stays with the league as a special advisor. On Monday night, CLax announced it will conduct a dispersal draft for the Toronto Shooting Stars on Sunday, Dec. 15.  The draft will comprise 6 rounds and players not drafted upon the conclusion of the sixth round will become free agents. Draft order is as follows: 1. Barrie Blizzard, 2. Durham TurfDogs, 3. Southwest Cyclops, 4. Niagara Lock Monsters.
