Once the National Lacrosse League’s CBA was finalized last week, we expected a frantic pace for player movement and signings, and that’s what we’re getting. The latest news includes Dan Dawson signing a 7-year deal with the Rochester Knighthawks, and Kasey Beirnes signing a 3-year contract with the Toronto Rock. “When you have a leader and an owner that cares about his players more so off the floor than on the floor, it really makes your decision to sign and end your career under Curt (Styres) that much easier,” Dawson said at Knighthawks.net. Beirnes is preparing for his 12th NLL season, the last 7 in Toronto. “He often flies under the radar, but at the same time that might be part of what makes him so dangerous,” GM Terry Sanderson said at TorontoRock.com. In Vancouver, the Stealth signed 12 players, among them some notable free agents including Alex Gajic, Jamie Shewchuk and Aaron Pascas.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
