The Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks widened the gap between the teams in and out of playoff position Tuesday night, downing the Oakville Rock 9-6 to give the Kodiaks 11 points, 2 behind the third-place Brooklin Redmen and 6 ahead of the fifth-place Rock. KW got a pair of goals from Jamie Rooney and a 5-point night (1g, 4a) from Mat McLeod. Dillon Ward made 48 saves to earn the win in goal. Kyle Davis with a pair was the only multiple-goal scorer for Oakville while Tye Belanger stopped 41 of the 50 shots he faced in a losing effort.
It was the fifth straight game and eighth in their last nine that the Rock scored fewer than 10 goals. KW has been giving almost everyone trouble scoring, allowing 7 or fewer goals in four of their last five games.
