At least someone in Buffalo kept the good kind of streak going. Brianna of the Buffalo Bandettes outpolled Skye of the Washington Bombshells by a count of 9,792 to 8,472 to make brunettes a winner for a third straight week in our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest. Of course, it’s easier when both contestants last week were brunettes. The Bandits of Buffalo, losers of 4 straight games, wouldn’t give a lick about the hair color of the person who had the answer to end their current miseries. So even though Brianna and the Bandettes may not have a lot to cheer about in Buffalo these days, she’s moving on to the second round. But before we get to that, we’ve got a final first-round matchup to take care of and this week, it’s Allie of the Colorado Wild Bunch going up against Dayna of the Toronto Rock.
If you’re reading this while shoving a piece of pizza into your pie hole, pipe down. Allie of the Wild Bunch tells us on her profile page that her biggest pet peeve is hearing people chew on their food or gum. Gotta say, we agree there 100%. The rookie dancer for the squad was drawn to try out for the team for 2 reasons: the edgy style of dancing and the great atmosphere of home games at the Pepsi Center. Again, agreed. Even if you’ve never been to a game in Colorado, it’s easy to see on the games we watch how electric the atmosphere there must be.
If you want to get on Allie’s good side, you can start with the food chewing thing. And after that, talk about the Lion King, because that’s her favorite flick. But she may also have an ear for anyone wanting to talk about traveling to Italy. That’s her dream vacation because experiencing the culture there is at the top of her list, not to mention connecting with the land of her ancestors. It would be an interesting trip, for sure, if only because of the 3 words she used to describe her personality: Shy, Spastic and Caring. Individually, these traits stand on their own. It’s if they’re ever combined that could be interesting. But we digress.
She says she’s an outdoor person and loves to be active. No better place than Colorado to meet that demand. But when she’s inside shopping, her favorite places to frequent are Forever 21 and Victoria’s Secret. We’d write more about this indoor/outdoor perspective of Allie, but sometimes the written word isn’t need. And this is one of those times.
It’s been an up and down season for the Mammoth, but Allie and the Wild Bunch are doing their jobs by keeping the fans occupied and fired up. And when she says that making the squad is the best thing to happen to her this year, that kinda gives you an idea of how good it’s been for Allie.
If Allie is to advance here, though, she’s got her work cut out. Dayna of the Toronto Rock is in her third season with the Rock cheerleaders, so she knows what this world is about. Yet in a unique departure from many of the lifetime dancers we see here in this contest, Dayna says on her profile page that she didn’t start dancing until she was 13 and didn’t even become a cheerleader until she was 19. Late bloomer? We’ll leave that for you to decide about the London, Ont., native who now lives in Oakville.
She’s a student, but that’s all she has to say about that. Luckily for you, she expands on her personality in depth on her profile page. She’s a collector of ticket stubs to all the concerts she’s been to and her one pet is Pumpkin the Cat. Her favorite meal is sushi and her dream job is one that will allow her to travel, help people and make a difference. A noble pursuit, for sure.
But one big indicator of her coolness factor is that given the choice of a lunch with anyone, she’d pick lunch at Monk’s with Jerry Seinfeld. She makes no mention of the Soup Nazi, though, or the marble rye. After a meal, she might be found at home watching Walking Dead, Modern Family or Big Bang Theory and she’s also got a spot for The Hunger Games.
Her ideal trip would be to Hawaii for some surfing and the 3 things she “must have” include an iPhone full of house music, sunglasses and some hair elastic. And beyond that, the guess here is that if you’re a fan of facts, Dayna is your girl. She says she’s full of fun facts that just pop out randomly, like making us aware that the quack of a duck does not echo. Interesting.
