For 57 minutes, Curtis Dickson was mostly sporting his Clark Kent glasses. Then, in the final three minutes of Calgary’s game against the Colorado Mammoth, the Roughnecks sniper doffed the black plastic frames, donned his cape and went Superman all over the Mammoth. Dickson scored goals to tie the game then give Calgary the lead and then, after Sean Pollock evened it up to force overtime, took just 21 seconds to finish Colorado off with his fourth goal of the game. Shawn Evans had a big hand in Dickson’s night; he assisted on all 4 goals as well as 3 others and added a hat trick. The 10-point night (his third triple-digit game of the season) extended his lead atop the NLL scoring race to 11 points ahead of Garrett Billings.
John Grant, Jr. put up 6 points (3g, 3a) to move into third. Jordan McBride had another big game for Colorado, scoring twice and adding 5 assists for the first 7-point night of his young career.
The win puts the Roughnecks (7-5) into a three-way tie for first place in the West Division with Washington and Edmonton. Colorado (4-8)remains tied for last in the NLL on points but behind Rochester and Minnesota in winning percentage, having played more games.
The Rush kept abreast of the Riggers with a 14-7 hammering of the Buffalo Bandits behind 4 goals and 3 assists from Corey Small. Curtis Knight also posted a hat trick for Edmonton, adding an assist as well. Kedoh Hill, playing his first game with the Bandits, leading Buffalo with a hat trick.
