The Buffalo Bandits traded defenseman Jimmy Purves to the Rochester Knighthawks for a second-round draft pick in the 2013 National Lacrosse League entry draft. The deal has yet to be approved by the NLL, but Purves announced the trade via Twitter, and Bandits assistant coach Richie Kilgour said the Bandits will miss the gritty defender. “He had that nasty attitude that we like in Bandit Land,” Kilgour said on the coaches call Wednesday afternoon. “It’s hard to see him go, but we’ll see if we can turn this pick into something.” It’s the second trade of the week for the Knighthawks, who picked up defender Jon Sullivan from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for forward Casey Powell. The deadline for what’s been a relatively quiet trading period is at 5 p.m. (EST) today.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
