If you’re a fan of the Toronto Rock, the Toronto Maple Leafs or the newly minted Toronto Shooting Stars of the Canadian Lacrosse League, you’ll want to check out this video. Or, for that matter, if you just like cool old sports arenas. JVI Video director Alex Frazao shows a remarkable blend of courage and insanity as he makes his way to the very top of the old Maple Leaf Gardens with a camera on his shoulder, at one point crawling under a crossbeam to continue his trek, all to give you a chance to see what it’s like in the rarefied air of the Gardens. Of course, MLG is now the Mattamy Athletic Centre, where the Shooting Stars play on the third-floor Ryerson University home rink, so you have to imagine the scene with another three floors worth of air between you and the carpet. It’s easier when you have interviews with men who are part of the Gardens’ lacrosse history–Dan Ladouceur, Glenn Clark, Jonas Derks and Jim Veltman–to help you remember the glory days.Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
