With 10 seconds to play, the Buffalo Bandits were on the verge of moving into a first-place tie with the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League’s East Division. Less than two-and-a-half minutes of playing time later, they were a stunned group sitting in third place while the Philadelphia Wings leapfrogged them to take over second place. Jordan Hall tied the game up with a goal 3.7 seconds from full time just after David Brock had been released from the penalty box and just before Brock could reach Hall to disrupt his shot. Drew Westervelt then won the game for Philly with his hat trick goal in the extra frame.

Buffalo, fresh off a huge comeback win in Toronto last night, this time were the victims of a huge comeback. The Bandits led 6-2 at the half and extended that lead when Shawn Williams scored his second goal (to go with 4 assists) leading off the third quarter. Philly outscored the Bandits 5-2 the rest of the way in the third to make it close at 9-7. Jon Harasym bumped the lead back up to three with the first goal of the fourth quarter but the Wings closed out the quarter with three straight, including Hall’s clutch job.

Paul Rabil joined Westervelt in producing a hat trick for Philadelphia while Kevin Crowley was the team’s high scorer with a goal and 4 assists. Luke Wiles had a hat trick and an assist for Buffalo while Williams 6 points was the game high.

Brandon Miller made 40 saves to earn the win. Anthony Cosmo stopped 44 of the 55 shots he faced. Both teams were better than .500 on the power play; Buffalo scored 5 times in 8 chances while the Wings scored 3 times on their 5 man advantages.
