NLL Girl of the Week: It’s Philadelphia’s Cary up against Chantal of Edmonton

Plenty of robots, er, people threw down votes in Week 3 of the National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest, sending Michelle of Calgary’s Drill Crew past Danielle of the Buffalo Bandettes. By a count of 17,085 to 12,638. You read correctly. Five figures for each dancer. So the bosses have to be thrilled because they knew this weekly poll was popular, but maybe not THAT popular. Either way, those are the numbers we have and that’s what we have to go with as we move into Week 4. But before we do, it’s worth nothing that Danielle’s loss means the Bandettes already are completely out of this tournament after Chelsea’s loss to Jacq in Week 1. So moving on, this week we have Cary of the Philadelphia Angels up against Chantal of the Edmonton Crush.

Cary.
Cary.

“Care Bare” comes to the Angels via Temple University, where she is a Journalism student. And speaking from experience, yours truly can say she’s getting a good start on the ins and outs of reporting. There’s plenty of wisdom in Annenberg Hall and if you wander a bit north of Diamond Street on Broad Street, you can learn plenty more about stuff that’s not in the curriculum. But, we digress.

When she’s not studying AP Style or the 5 Ws, Cary enjoys time at Whisper!, The Barbary, Rittenhouse Square or The Art Museum. And when she’s not getting her fill of art, perhaps she’s daydreaming of her celebrity crush on Ryan Gossling, as she states on her profile page.

Philadelphia is a far cry from the plains of North Dakota where she was born, but she’s apparently adapted to Philly quite well. Among her favorite movies? Fight Club. If she’s in a reading mood, you might even find her with a copy of Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar in her hands. She’s sensitive, ambitious and curious all at the same time, according to her profile, but we’ll let you decided if she’s correct in saying that Elmo is her celebrity look-alike.

Chantal.
Chantal.

On the other side of North America, Chantal is the competition for Cary. She’s in her fourth season as a member of the Edmonton Crush, and she had plenty to cheer for last season as the Rush played for the NLL championship. Alas, the Rush came up short, but Chantal is back with her girls with the Crush for another season of pumping up the crowds in the City of Champions.

She’s a native of Fort McMurray, Alberta, which also happens to be the birthplace of Chris Phillips and Nolan Pratt, a two-time Stanley Cup winner. She’s got a degree in Physical Education, which should explain the fitness level she maintains to be a member of the Crush for so long. But she also works as a tender of a bar and shift manager.

But whether she’s dancing with the Crush or managing a shift, she will not leave home without her phone, iPod or comb, according to her profile page. The best thing about being with the Crush is “the new experiences, meeting new friends who become best friends, performing and being part of Rush Nation!”

We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves, so we didn’t. That’s why we quoted her from the profile page.

But enough talk for now. It’s time to vote and your choices today are for Cary of Philadelphia or Chantal of Edmonton.

Who is your NLL Girl of the Week?

  • Cary (60%, 370 Votes)
  • Chantal (40%, 245 Votes)

Total Voters: 615
