The Brampton Inferno rallied with four straight goals in the fourth quarter to defeat the Iroquois Ironmen by the score of 12-10 Friday night in Canadian Lacrosse League Action. Brampton’s Scott Tinning opened the scoring 37 seconds into the opening quarter to take a 1-0. The Ironmen would get goals from Josh Johnson on the powerplay at 4:02 and Torrey VanEvery at 8:49 to take a 2-1 lead. Brampton’s Dustin Caravello tied the game 2-2 with 36 seconds seconds left in the first quarter. Iroquois answered right back 33 seconds later as Chris Attwood beat Brampton goaltender Jay Preece for his 12th goal of the season. The Ironmen led 3-2 after 15 minutes. In the second quarter, Brampton added four of the next six goals leading 6-5 with six minutes left. The Ironmen answered back with three straight goals over the final five minutes leading 8-6 at the half.
Brampton would cut the lead to one, 8-7, 2:31 into the third quarter on a goal from Mark Tinning. The Ironmen would answer back regaining their two-goal lead, as Travis Hill registered his fifth goal of the campaign.
With seven seconds remaining in the third quarter, Brampton’s John McClure would make it a one-goal game with a powerplay marker.
In the fourth quarter, Brampton answered with four straight goals to take a 12-9 lead with 7:07 left in regulation. Ryan Campbell was in on all four goals in the final quarter registering three goals and one assist.
Elijah Printup added his second goal of the night at 13:22 to round out the scoring for the Ironmen.
Leading Brampton was Campbell who recorded seven points adding four goals and three helpers. McClure contributed with two goals and two assists. Rounding out the Inferno leaders were S. Tinning (2G, 1A), M. Tinning (2G, 1A), Caravello (2G, 1A), Kyle Andrew (3A) and Coady Adamson (3A) who all chipped in with three points each.
Iroquois’ Chris Attwood finished the night with six points adding two goals and four assists becoming the first CLax player to register 100 career points. Alex Kedoh Hill added two goals and two assists for a four-point performance. Printup (2G), Johnson (1G, 1A), VanEvery (1G, 1A), Tony Doxtator (1G), Travis Hill (1G) rounded out the Ironmen scoring.
In goal, Brampton’s Jay Preece recorded 53 saves in the victory. Ironmen starter Jake Lazore collected 42 saves in the loss.
Both teams are in action again on March 1st. Next Friday at 8pm the Brampton Inferno host the Toronto Shooting Stars at the Powerade Centre. Also at 8pm, the Iroquois Ironmen will battle the Ohsweken Demons at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
