This week on Boxla Beat: scoring leader Shawn Evans and young gun Dhane Smith

Shawn Evans is breaking out in a big way this season, leading the National Lacrosse League in assists and scoring while his Calgary Roughnecks are sitting in the first-place spot in the West Division to which they’ve become accustomed. Evans joined me on Boxla Beat this week to talk about playing with all that talent on the Riggers’ offence, his history of success (including 4 Mann Cups, 2 Mintos, a Champions Cup and a world championship) and what it’s like to watch your teammate try to beat up your brother. We also got into fatherhood a bit, thanks to his daughter Paityn Evans becoming the first four-year-old to appear on Boxla Beat. Not quite as young as Paityn but still in the bloom of youth, my second guest is Buffalo Bandits star rookie Dhane Smith. He gets to play with his cousin Billy Dee Smith and he’s loving that, the Bandits 4-3 start and all the media attention he’s been getting. Heck, Dhane seems to be loving everything. Hear all about it on Boxla Beat, brought to you by The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro Peterborough and Bowen Therapist Marianne Beacon of Elderberry Herbals.
