Two teams have yet to win a game early in the Canadian Lacrosse League season and both will have a chance to chance their first W of the year this afternoon. The Iroquois Ironmen need to turn things around in a big way. They’ve been outscored by an average of 20-14 in their two losses out of the gate. Defending CLax scoring champion Chris Attwood leads the way on offence with 15 points. In goal, the Ironmen will look to newly acquired Jake Henhawk to keep the Turfdogs in check as Durham and the Turfdogs leading scorer Shane Scott invade the ILA for a 2 pm start.
At the Mattamy Athletic Centre, also at 2 pm, the Barrie Blizzard face a much less daunting turnaround. They lost their only start so far by a single goal and will aim for the franchise’s first win against the Toronto Shooting Stars, who are 1-1 with both of their contests being one-goal games against Durham. The Stars are led by Aaron Grayson’s 10 points and solid goaltending from reigning CLax Defensive Player of the Week Angus Dineley. Barrie’s Caleb Wiles scored 9 points in his CLax debut. The Blizzard also boast 2012 all-stars Colin Boucher, John Rae and Scotty Komer.
