Kahnawake unveil Presidents Cup logo and website; Barry Alfred returning as coach

The Kahnawake Mohawks Senior B Lacrosse Club is pleased to unveil the logo for the 2013 Presidents’ Cup as well as the launching of the official web site for the tournament. The logo was designed by Kahnawake artist Teiowisón:te Thomas Deer – who also designed the Mohawks team logo.

The 2013 Presidents’ Cup web site can be found at www.presidentscup-2013.com. The tournament’s web site will be updated continually throughout the months leading up to the Presidents’ Cup in August, where fans, teams and sponsors can get the latest information on the Canadian National Senior B Lacrosse Championship.

The Kahnawake Mohawks would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Barry Alfred back behind the bench for the 2013 Quebec Senior Lacrosse League season, which is scheduled to start in April/May.

“Barry has a lot of experience and we are looking forward to seeing him work with our young players,” Mohawks owner and General Manager Kerry Goodleaf said. “His lacrosse knowledge will help bring the best out of our players.”

Alfred was last the head coach of the Mohawks in 2009 and has led the team to several QSLL and Iroquois Lacrosse Association championships and Presidents Cup appearances.

The Kahnawake Mohawks last hosted the Presidents Cup in 2000 and are once again looking forward to hosting a world-class event at the Kahnawake Sports Complex. The 2013 Presidents Cup will be held from August 26 to September 1. Teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Can-Am, ILA, and Quebec are expected to take part in this National Championship.

The Kahnawake Mohawks will be hosting a fundraising golf tournament at the Caughnawaga Golf Course on Friday, May 31. Check the official Presidents Cup web site for more details as they become available. You can also email info@presidentscup- 2013.com.
