CLax: Blizzard warning at the ILA

The Barrie Blizzard are on the road for their first-ever Canadian Lacrosse League game and they’re starting with a big challenge. Barrie is visiting the defending champion Ohsweken Demons in a 1 pm game that is available via free live webcast for those who can’t make it to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville this afternoon. The Blizzard are an expansion team but they have some top-calibre players on the roster, especially on the defensive side of the floor. CLax Defensive Player of the Year Colin Boucher headlines the squad and is joined by a pair of IL Indoor CLax second-team all-stars from last season: John Rae and goalie Scotty Komer. They’ll look to the likes of Caleb Wiles, Jason Mainer and Tyler Patterson to lead the way offensively. In net along with Komer, the Blizzard have emerging young stopper Brandon Noble and veteran and former NLLer Derek Collins. You can see the Blizzard’s full expansion draft here and their opening-day roster here.
