It was a huge weekend for the away teams in week three of NLL action. In what seems to be a trend this year, three of the four games were won by one goal with both the Philadelphia Wings and Buffalo Bandits scoring with seconds left in the 4th quarter and the Colorado Mammoth winning in overtime. Of the 10 games played so far in the 2013 season, six have been decided by one goal.

For the first time this season, all nine teams will see action this weekend. Calgary, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington each play twice in the seven games scheduled.

On Friday, the Minnesota Swarm (0-1), coming off a bye week, return to Toronto for the first time since 2009 to take on the Toronto Rock (2-1). Friday evening will also see 2 rematches of teams who faced off in Week 3: Colorado Mammoth (1-1) will host the Calgary Roughnecks (0-2) and the Edmonton Rush (1-1) host the Washington Stealth (2-1). On Saturday, the Rock make the 270km trip east to face the Rochester Knighthawks (0-2), the Buffalo Bandits (2-1) look to avenge their week 2 loss to the undefeated Wings, and the Swarm will play their home opener against the Stealth. In the last game of the weekend, a Sunday matinee, the Wings return home to host the Roughnecks.

Just as six games have been won by one goal, the fan picks have been incredibly close. Fans correctly chose Philly (244-243), Buffalo (250-248), and Colorado (236-253) as winners on Saturday. Fans are now at 5-5 for the year. I have correctly chosen the losing team 9 out of 10 times; oh, that’s not the point? Then, I’m 1-9.
