Having a breakout season can be defined by so many things but there’s no denying there are several worthy candidates to keep an eye on this coming National Lacrosse League season. Is he on the verge of breaking out for the first time, preparing to finally meet the expectations with which he entered the NLL? Has he had an off year or two and is on the poise of rediscovering his form? Some of the fellas we have lined up for breakout seasons in this poll are on new teams, in new systems. Will they flourish in the new plan? Time will tell, obviously, but that’s never stopped us from playing the guessing game. And now we offer you the chance to do so as well, after the jump.
As with almost all polls of this nature, the list we offer is not exclusive. There are plenty of candidates, as we mentioned before, but ILIndoor is of the opinion that the names we offer here are closer than most. Joel McCready has had some solid summers for the Langley Thunder but hasn’t yet stolen any thunder in the NLL. Is this the year for him in Rochester?
David Brock has really blossomed as a defender in Philadelphia, but now he’s in Buffalo. How will his skill translate to that high-pressure D the Bandits play? We know Daryl Veltman can score and last year, his numbers were improved over the 2011 numbers he had. Can he do more in 2013?
Will Alex Turner’s touch emerge in Edmonton? Will Kedoh Hill take the MSL lessons learned with Six Nations and show them off with Rochester? How about Philly defenders Steve Holmes and Brett Manney? Is this the year they take charge and dominate?
Joel Dalgarno is back after a year off and Colorado hopes his slick skills on offense are back with him, while Cliff Smith in Washington is looking to show his strong WLA numbers of seasons past can work in the NLL as well.
Plenty to choose from, so while you’re sitting on the couch in a mall taking a break from your last-minute shopping, relax yourself by voting.
