Scotty Komer may have seen his chances of making the Philadelphia roster to start the season go up in smoke when the Wings acquired Kevin Croswell from Washington, but he continues as a force to be reckoned with in IL Indoor’s voting for the best player not in the National Lacrosse League. The goalie downed defender Ian Poole in a semi-final that drew nearly 100,000 votes. Maybe the number one fan of his power pop group Love You To Death decided to dedicate himself to Komer’s online success rather than wearing his skin like a Scotty suit (listen to this song and you’ll get it). The final may be Komer’s biggest challenge, though, since for the first time he’ll be the favourite and favourite’s haven’t fared well so far.
Ryan Hotaling, seeded 11th of the 12 players starting the competition, downed Dylan Llord by a solid margin in the other semi-final to reach the final pairing. Hotaling doesn’t have a cool song to support his campaign, but as the only American in the poll he does carry the hopes of his country with pride.
So here we go, the final vote to decide who you think is the best player not in the NLL. Have at it.
