Merry Christmas! Well, at least for some guys. As the National Lacrosse League deadline for finalized rosters passed on Thursday, we learned which guys will be looking forward to the season opener, and which guys are looking for NLL jobs. The competition for jobs the last couple of seasons has been as tight as ever and that’s why it’s sorta surprising to see guys like Jeff Zywicki, Eric Martin and Kyle Ross without a team today. Longtime veteran Chris Schiller didn’t make the cut in Philadelphia and will not be on a team for the first time since 2001, and Brandon Francis is no longer a Buffalo Bandit. Kaleb Toth and Dan Carey took the retirement route, and Ian Llord and Tom Montour are on practice rosters. Of course, jobs are an injury or release away for some of these guys but until then, the 9 NLL teams are set to roll with the rosters they released yesterday, a gathering of which can be found here at NLL.com.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
