The reasons vary for the names we’re looking at today but the common thread here is that each one of them is looking for a better National Lacrosse League season in 2013 than they had last year. For some, the 2012 season didn’t exist at all. Employment duties called, injuries benched them, or they just took some time to catch their breath. Still, others listed here played a handful of games last year. Injuries sidelined some, coaches decisions sidelined others. The bottom line here is who you think will be back in a big way for the 2013 season and you get that process started by turning the page so you can see the actual poll.
In Rochester, Casey Powell and Tom Montour are looking to get their careers back on track. CP took a year off to get the bigger picture back in focus while Montour had 6 straight NLL seasons of double-digits in games played. But last year, his time was limited to 9 games in Buffalo and after the Bandits cut him loose, he’s looking for a fresh start in Rochester.
Tracey Kelusky’s numbers have been not been TK-like the past couple of seasons in Buffalo. Will the makeover there find some new chemistry for the talented veteran? Josh Funk made a name for himself in Minnesota but took some time off from the league for a year or two and is trying to make it back with Philadelphia.
In Toronto, veteran Blaine Manning had his Iron Man streak snapped last year by injury, so he’s champing at the bit to get back at it. Same for Colorado defender Mac Allen, and teammate Joel Dalgarno is back to provide some offensive depth after getting his firefighting career on track.
Dane Stevens is back to earn a spot in Edmonton after a year of traveling and in Washington, super-talented Jeff Zywicki hopes he can stay healthy for a season after injuries have limited him to just 13 regular-season games in the last 2 seasons.
So who’s your pick? Vote it, loud and proud. And if you don’t see a name here that you think should be, start a thread.
