In what should qualify as one of ┬áthe least surprising developments of the year, John Grant, Jr. has won the 2012 Laxie award on our sister site, Inside Lacrosse, as the National Lacrosse League’s best player. Junior, who was on the floor although not in pads for Colorado’s first practice of the 2013 yesterday at the Toronto Rock practice facility in Oakville, dominated the voting much the way he dominated the NLL season, taking 52% of the vote.

It was quite a year for the Mammoth star, who set the single-season scoring record, won a Mann Cup with Peterborough, won the MLL title with the Chesapeake Bayhawks, was the NLL MVP and cracked the 500-goal and 1,000 point plateaus.
