The tweet was music to Rochester Knighthawks fans on the even of training camp: especially when they saw that living lacrosse legend Casey Powell had signed with the club for three years. The fact that a later tweet corrected the original to reflect that Powell has actually signed a one-year deal, like it seems every player in the league has this year (maybe a hint that teams are wary of long-term deals till the new CBA gets done?), shouldn’t dampen their enthusiasm much if at all. The long and the short of it is the Knighthawks have the Greatest American Laxer back where it all began and they’re thrilled to have him on board. And Powell tells Knighthawks.net that he’s happy about the situation, too. “I took a year off to get my life together. I know time is running out on my career,” he said. “It worked out that the Knighthawks picked me up in the Dispersal Draft. It’s great to finish my career where it started.”Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
