Philadelphia Wings’ camp to include an eager 36-year-old rookie goalie from B.C.

Maybe you’ve heard of Chad Pieper, maybe you haven’t. The important thing is, the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings have and they’re bringing in the goalkeeper for training camp with a chance to make the team. “I’ll be the oldest guy (36) in camp,” a laughing Pieper told the Vernon Morning Star. Pieper says he’ll be 1 of 6 goalies in camp, which opens on Nov. 30. Last year’s starter, Brandon Miller, and backup Steve Fryer will be among the 6 along with Pieper and his experience with the Senior B Armstrong Shamrocks. Pieper says he was invited to camp by GM Johnny Mouradian and he’s been working out since, trying to drop pounds and face shots in local rec leagues. “From what I’ve heard, there is a competition there so it all depends on how I show,” Pieper said.
