Pop quiz: name the owners of the National Lacrosse League teams. You probably got Curt Styres (Rochester) and Jamie Dawick (Toronto) right away. They’re highly visible, heavily involved owners, with Styres also serving as GM of his team. Bruce Urban’s got a pretty high profile in Edmonton as well. Of course, the Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres own the teams in their cities. But who’s the most powerful owner in the league? Well, according to Sports Illustrated (via the St. Louis Business Journal), Colorado owner Stan Kroenke isn’t just the most powerful owner in the NLL, he’s the most powerful man in sports. He also owns Denver’s teams in the NHL, NBA and MLS, as well as the St. Louis Rams of the NFL. But he’s best known for owning Arsenal of the English soccer’s Premier League. So yeah, as Ron Burgundy would say, he’s kind of a big deal.Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
