The pieces have been falling into place this offseason for the Toronto Rock and the biggest piece of the puzzle was taken care of Thursday when the team announced it signed forward Garrett Billings to a 1-year contract. “I’m happy to be back with the Rock,” Billings told the team’s website. “We’re all ready to take another run at the Champion’s Cup.” With Billings back, he joins Stephan Leblanc and Josh Sanderson as key off-season signings, leaving only Colin Doyle as the big name yet to re-up with the Rock. Last season, Billings set a Rock record with a 114-point season, setting a league record with 82 assists. He finished second in the league’s MVP voting to Colorado’s John Grant Jr.
