Championships are the reason the games are played. And many players have enjoyed the fruit of their labor, the National Lacrosse League being no exception. But for as many champions as there are, there also are many guys who never have known that feeling in the NLL. Of course, that doesn’t diminish their personal skill, but it can be the kind of thing that gnaws at a fella should his exit from the game come before he is crowned. And that brings us to today’s poll: Who out there is the greatest NLL player to never win a league title? The list we’ve compiled is hardly inclusive, but it’s an impressive collection of talent. We just can’t list ‘em all, so take a look and if you’re in the mood to talk about it, flap yer gums over at the message board.
Maybe the only thing worse that not winning a title is being oh-so-close. Like Dan Dawson, who has played in 3 title games and not won. Brodie Merrill lost in 1. Of course, some guys — like Casey Powell, Geoff Snider and Athan Iannucci — have never even played in a title game.
Is that gonna change this year? We’re just a few short months away from the start of the 2013 season that could answer that. In the meantime, vote.
