Drew Westervelt is not unlike any other professional out there. He works hard at his craft and tries to, well, not stink. His craft is lacrosse and he does not stink at it. And now, his gear — and yours (you listening, Fann Cuppers?) — may not either if his OdorBalance idea takes off in the business world the way he believes it can. “We’ve all used sprays in the past and it’s just covering up the stink,” the Philadelphia Wings forward told the Baltimore Sun. “This was something totally different, and I knew we had a new use for what we were doing.” The result of Westervelt’s work with his business partners is a detergent (OdorBalance) designed to clean and remove bacteria from gear and footwear that causes that wonderful smell that permeates equipment bags. BactiBarrier is a cleaning agent for sports facilities (indoors and outdoors). They’re on the market in select locations, mostly around Baltimore, but Westervelt is hoping for a broader reach later this year.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
