The Peterborough Lakers are getting a parade. On Friday, October 5, the city is throwing a parade to celebrate the team’s fifth Mann Cup championship in nine years. It will be held before the team’s annual banquet. Things will kick off with a good old-fashioned pep rally at City Hall at 5 pm. Players will then climb into antique cars for the parade heading down George Street to Hunter, where it will turn west to pass by several restaurants that are team sponsors. The procession will then turn back south on Aylmer Street to John Grant Jr.’s restaurant, the Montreal House. A left at the MoHo and the parade will return along King Street to George then head south again to the Memorial Centre, the team’s home arena. Things will wrap up there and the team then makes its way to Trentwinds International for the banquet. The team says tickets to the banquet are still available but must be bought by this Sunday, September 30 by contacting Karl McFadden at 705-741-1475 Karlpatrick46@gmail.com.Stamp is a TV sports announcer and lacrosse lover whose skill set made him a defender but who always dreamed of being a goal-scorer.
