ROCK SIGN THREE INCLUDING NICK ROSE FOR 2013
Damon Edwards, Zak Boychuk and Nick Rose Sign 1-Year Contracts

Toronto – Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson announced the signings of three players on Thursday.  Goaltenders Nick Rose and Zak Boychuk as well as defenceman Damon Edwards have each signed one-year contracts that will see them return to the Rock in 2013.

Rose was acquired from Calgary at the trade deadline in March of this year and his arrival provided a spark for the Rock that led them to the East Division regular season crown.  After Rose was brought in to tend goal, the Rock went 5-1 down the stretch with the 24-year old as the starter.

Edwards was signed as a free agent last season when the Rock ran into some injury problems and the second year defenceman made the most of his opportunity emerging as one of the teams’ most reliable defenders injecting speed and energy into the lineup.

With the off-season retirement of backup goaltender Pat Campbell, Boychuk will come to camp to compete for a roster spot after spending the 2012 season on the Rock practice roster.  Boychuk was originally drafted by the Rock in 2010 but failed to crack the Rock roster prior to the 2011 season.

Beginning yesterday teams were permitted to begin signing Unrestricted Free Agents to contracts. Additionally, teams can also sign Restricted Free Agents to an offer sheet.  The team that owns the Restricted Free Agents’ rights can retain the player by matching the offer.
