Veteran forward Scott Evans has been a healthy scratch the last 3 games for the Edmonton Rush, but his return may come this weekend in the team’s National Lacrosse League regular season finale against the Toronto Rock. “We may give him a run this weekend,” GM and coach Derek Keenan said on this week’s coaches call. “We hope he responds well. It’s in his hands and he knows what we expect of him, playing with the team. So hopefully he responds like the pro that he is.” The offensive struggles for Edmonton this season are not a secret as the Rush have scored a league-low 156 goals, but Keenan emphasized it’s not the fault of a single player. “It hasn’t just been Scott Evans,” he said. “The whole offense has lacked consistency.” Despite missing 3 games, Evans is second on the team with 22 goals behind Zack Greer’s 29.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
