The Mammoth remained perfect, the Wings took sole possession of first place in the East, the Roughnecks rambled in the Battle of Alberta and Rochester overcame adversity by playing like a team in Week 7 action in the Naitonal Lacrosse League. As always, IL Indoor brings you the performers who had the big games, made the big plays and sometimes made the little plays in our 3 Stars compilation. After the jump, see the 3 Stars and the Honourable Mentions who made us take notice this week.

First Star

Dan Dawson, Philadelphia Wings
3 goal, 7 assists

Dawson was masterful running the Wings offense. He created scoring chances all night long with patience, vision and decisive action when lanes opened up. Some nights everything just seems to be right and to work. Combine one of those nights with Dawson’s sublime talent and you have a special performance. He made everyone around him better, the hallmark of a truly great player.

Second Star

Brendan Mundorf, Philadelphia Wings
5 goals, 3 assists

Philadelphia coach Johnny Mouradian commented that Mundorf is really starting to figure out the indoor game. Saturday night provided evidence of that. He scored 4 goals from almost the exact same spot on the floor, each time drifting down the lane from the shooter spot, looking across to the righties then turning to rip a shot just inside the near post. He did more than just shoot, though, taking an active role in the offense and making smart decisions.

Third Star

John Grant, Jr., Colorado Mammoth
4 goals, 3 assists

Junior just keeps doing it. Another big night in yet another Mammoth win, and he’ll tell you till he’s blue in the face that the latter is more important. His commitment to fitness and ball movement back the words up—he’s playing a team game and is being rewarded with a steady stream of Ws. Note how quickly Grant was up the floor looking to retrieve the ball after Cameron Holding scored his first NLL goal.

Honourable Mentions

Pat McCready (Rochester): The Knighthawks are obviously facing upheaval off the floor, so their captain led the team in focusing their energies on the floor. McCready had a hat trick and was a force all over the floor…Brodie Merrill (Philadelphia): 2a, 8lb, 2 skinned knees, 1 huge stickless check. Merrill led by example, putting out a tremendous effort that included diving for balls, playing tenacious, physical defense and making good decisions about when to run in transition and when to run to the bench….Lewis Ratcliff (Washington): His second straight 4g, 3a output…Jeff Shattler (Calgary): A pair of goals, 3 assists and 7 loose balls in leading the Roughnecks to a crucial win against Edmonton…Chris Levis (Colorado) 40 saves in yet another steady performance as the Mammoth remained perfect…Kevin Crowley (Philadelphia): 3g, 5a, 6lb Crowley had a quiet 8-point night in Philly’s big win…Scott Evans (Edmonton): Big Evy had 2 goals and 3 assists in the first edition of the Evans’ brothers Battle of Alberta…Shawn Evans (Calgary) And Little Evy had a goal, 3 assists and 6 loose balls…Garrett Billings (Toronto) Showed again that you can’t leave him time and space with a hat trick for a Rock offense that couldn’t get much going Saturday…Craig Point (Rochester) He’s been chomping at the bit to get back on the floor and looked like he hadn’t missed a beat once he got there. A hat trick and pair of assists as he played a central role in the Knighthawks O.
