If there’s anyone who knows the National Lacrosse League, it’s 13-year veteran Mat Giles. And if there’s anyone who may be able to write a book about great restaurants in NLL cities, it’s Mat Giles. The right-handed forward was traded by the Minnesota Swarm to the Buffalo Bandits for a conditional draft pick in 2013. It’ll be the 12th NLL team for Giles, who has previously played for Toronto, Albany, Columbus, Montreal, Ottawa, Rochester, Edmonton, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Minnesota and, now, Buffalo. The move gives the Bandits depth on the right side that already has Tracey Kelusky, Mark Steenhuis, Brendan Thenhaus and Frank Resetarits. The Swarm also announced the signing of their top draft pick (No. 6 overall), goalie Evan Kirk, to a 3-year deal.Chavez is an avid lacrosse player in Rochester and a journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle as well as a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
