For those that thought Sunday’s Brampton Excelsiors (Junior ‘A’) win over the league leading Six Nations Arrows was a fluke, what would you call last night’s repeat performance? The Excels once again got strong goaltending from Lukas Coote, who they quietly picked up from Mississauga just before the trade deadline, and played suffocating defense in their 15-11 win over the Arrows, a W that should give them a finish within the top 4 spots in the province, good enough for home floor advantage in at least the first round of the playoffs. Highlighted as one of this week’s most important remaining regular season game, the Nanaimo Timbermen upset the Victoria Shamrocks last night, a 12-8 victory that locked up their playoff spot this year, both Joey Fendick and Kyle Hofer punching in a hat-trick each into the ‘Rocks cage. Nanaimo backstop Devon Winters allowed just a single goal on 22 combined shots from Vic’s Karsen Leung and Jesse King. As it continues to stand now, the island rivals will likely see each other in the first round of the BCJALL playoffs. All the rest from last night after the jump.
