BCJALL Trade Deadline: Coquitlam scoops up Jackson Decker during quiet cut-off

Compared to last year’s BCJALL trade deadline, where top shelf names like Cody Bremner, Colton Clark, Brodie MacDonald, Riley Loewen, Zach Bowen and others were flipped, 2011’s edition has really been nothing more than a whisper, the league’s website listing just a single swap by their midnight cut-off yesterday.

The deal was, however, a pretty significant one, the defending Minto Cup champion Coquitlam Adanacs dealing for the puzzle piece highlighted in Brad Challoner’s deadline day feature yesterday – impact final year Junior Jackson Decker. The Limestone College middie has gained a rep recently for being even more significant in the playoffs, a very worthwhile pickup, especially with Robert Church sidelined potentially for the remainder of the 2011 season. In exchange for Decker the Adanacs gave up “the Junior ‘A’ playing rights of Eliott Godman and Kris Liset“. Coquitlam doesn’t play during this Canada Day long weekend until Sunday evening (5PM PT) when they host the Victoria Shamrocks, Burnbay hosting a big one of their own tonight (8PM PT) at Bill Copeland against the New Westminster Salmonbellies. Coquitlam remains the top ranked side in Canada while Burnaby is tied with the Nanaimo Timbermen for the last playoff spot in BC.
