IL Indoor has learned from a source close to the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs that 2010 BCJALL Playoff MVP Robert Church will be out 6-8 weeks with a broken leg. He suffered the injury in last week’s 10-6 victory in New Westminster. It was just a week ago that the A’s were celebrating Church’s return to the line-up after his sophomore season at Drexel University, scoring 9 points in his first game back against Victoria.

The 2010 Minto Cup champion is in 3rd full season of Junior ‘A’, however as a ’91 still has another full season in front of him. One of only a few players in BC to hit to the100 point plateau in recent memory, the right-hander put up 107 in 2009 and 38 in just 9 games last season before setting fire in the playoffs with 29 in 8. Church was also the only player in NCAA Div I to register 10 points in a game this past season when his Dragon’s beat St. John’s 14-7 in their final game of 2011.

The Coquitlam Adanacs remain the only unbeaten team in the nation. They look to make it 16-0 against Port Coquitlam on Friday night. The A’s will hope to have Church back healthy in time for the BCJALL playoffs in their quest for their second straight Minto Cup August 20th in Okotoks, Alberta.

IL Indoor will have more coverage in the BCJALL Notebook on Thursday.
