The Langley Junior ‘A’ Thunder have released Head Coach Rey Comeault after the team’s 0-3 start to the 2011 BCJALL season, promoting Assistant Coach Chris Levis, who of course also plays for the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth, in an attempt to turn their season around.

IL Indoor connected with Levis on Wednesday, the Thunder’s new bench boss saying, “Looking at our record over the last few seasons, there are definitely some areas that need to be addressed.

“The great thing about the organization as it stands is we have a good crop of young players that are willing to learn the game and are willing to put the effort into righting this ship. The team has a big challenge ahead of it and I believe we’re up to the task.”

The last place Langley club finished just 2-19 last season, a combined 9-98-1 since 2005 when the team played as the at one time extremely competitive Surrey Stickmen, later also the South Fraser Stickmen.

Also on the Thunder’s bench is Levis’ Mammoth teammate Matt Leveque, who played for the Stickmen during his Junior ‘A’ career. Current high profile NLLers and WLA vets like Jordan Hall, Cliff Smith and even American Steve Forsythe are past players of the currently struggling club.
