He’s back, just not with the National Lacrosse League, apparently. Earlier this afternoon, about 24 hours before the NLL’s Division Finals kick off, it was announced via media release that a new indoor lacrosse league would be formed (and no this is not CLax), the release sent from former NLL commissioner Jim Jennings‘ sports marketing firm, Waterbucket Media. Not much more info is provided, but a press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday May 10th at The Ainsworth in New York City. Past presumably Jennings, others at the conference will include former National Basketball Player’s Association Executive Director and COO Charles Grantham, USIL President and Team USA GM Graham D’Aliva and American field players Peter Vlahakis, Stephen Berger and Steve Panarelli. The release also states, “The name of the league, along with the announcement of its Commissioner and front office staff, will be made public at this media event. Additionally, the Commissioner will announce a timeline of teams and number of teams, along with when the league will play and its media partners.” Stay tuned. The foremost boxla writer, Tutka is a former NLL scout and a longtime Inside Lacrosse contributor.
