University of Alberta field lacrosse approved as sanctioned school club

From Press Release

The University of Alberta Field Lacrosse Club is pleased to announce it has received approval as a sanctioned Club from the Student’s Union and   University of Alberta Board of Directors. In order to achieve  status numerous administrative steps had to be completed by current U of A students and scrutiny of Canada’s national summer sport  being allowed to participate as a club in a university setting came under examination. The sanctioning  process took in excess of one year to complete. In the end, the University supported  the creation of a field lacrosse club team.

The U of A club team joins teams at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Victoria as fully accredited western Canadian universities  with lacrosse clubs. Simon Fraser University also has a  club team competing in the MCLA. The U of A Club intends on having at least one exhibition   game in the spring of 2011. The goal is to have a regular fall league from  September – November with long term aspirations of joining CUFLA/CIS (www.cufla.ca).

All full and part time students at the University of Alberta are eligible to participate on the club team. For more information please contact any of the following:
