UncategorizedEdmonton Rush re-sign Gavin Prout and Rory Glaves to new deals, plus the links

Gavin Prout was Edmonton's second-leading scorer with 67 points. He scored 27 goals, 6 on the power play.
Last week, it was the defense and goalie Matt Disher locking up contract details with the Edmonton Rush. This week, it’s the offense as Gavin Prout inked a 1-year deal with the team he helped lead to the playoffs for the first time in its history. The offensive skill and talent of Prout is hardly a secret and he finished last season as the team’s second-leading scorer as the Rush come into the 2011 season with high hopes after advancing to last season’s West Division final. But it wasn’t all offense with the announcements. Rory Glaves is back with a new deal, too.
“Gavin is one of the NLL’s top offensive players and we are looking forward to seeing what more he can do for us in his second season as a member of the Rush,” Rush general manager and head coach Derek Keenan told TSN.
Getting Glaves to return, with a new 1-year deal, to the back end is pretty big, too. Glaves has been the anchor of the defense since his arrival in 2006, the team’s first season. Since, he’s missed just 5 games and he’s just 1 of 2 players remaining from the original Rush roster. “Rory has been as steady and solid as any of the league’s best defenders and I expect that he will continue to provide the Rush with strong play and leadership this coming season,” said Keenan.
