Insider has confirmed with sources close to both teams that the Colorado Mammoth have traded high profile Orlando Titans dispersal draft pick Matt Vinc along with off-season pickup Matt Zash, also formerly of the Titans, to the Rochester Knighthawks for recent Mann Cup winners John Grant and Mac Allen.
Sources also confirm as part of the deal Colorado has sent their first and third round pick in the 2012 entry draft to Rochester for the Khawks’ first round selection in both the 2011 and 2013 entry draft.
Vinc, last year’s National Lacrosse League Goalie of the Year, has been linked to trade rumours for the past several weeks, while Grant, who returned to the game last year after missing the entire 2009 season after extensive knee surgery, was rumoured to be on the trading block at this time last year as well, later leading Rochester in goals, points and special team scoring in 2010.
It’s expected the trade will be made official shortly.
Update 2:30PM… Insider has also confirmed with Vinc’s agent Chaka Bainbridge that his client was in fact traded to Rochester earlier today.
Update 4:20PM… Brad Self has also been added to the deal, Rochester obtaining his rights from Colorado. Self, the younger brother of Scott Self, has played partial seasons in the NLL while also playing professional hockey in Germany. Self last played in the NLL for the Chicago Shamrox in 2008.
