From Press Release

Cody Jamieson pulled on a Rochester Knighthawks sweater today for the first time since he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the September National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.

“It is definitely exciting. It was good to get the ball rolling,” he said. “It was good to put a Rochester jersey on. Draft was the last time I got to do that. It’s good to come to the arena and be part of the Knighthawks.”

The images from the photo shoot will be used in promotional materials for the 2011 NLL season. The biggest image of No. 88 will cover the arena atrium windows from the ceiling to the floor this season and set alongside other artwork promoting the Knighthawks and Rochester Americans hockey team.

“It’s exciting for my family and my friends,” said Jamieson.

Jamieson, who made the trip into Rochester for the morning shoot, also talked about his preparation for the team’s training camp, which will kick off on Saturday, November 20th at the Rochester Sports Garden. Jamieson comes to Rochester with a reputation as a pure goal scorer. In the Senior “A” Canadian Box League, he was named the winner of the 2009 Jim Murphy Award as the Major Series Lacrosse MVP, the Gene Dopp Award as outstanding rookie and the Buck McDonald Award as the league’s top scorer with 48 goals and 48 assists for 96 points. It was the first time in MSL history anyone has won all three awards in the same season. In his junior career, he scored 199 goals and assisted on 196 in 103 regular season games with the Six Nations Arrows.

“I am out shooting every day and hitting the gym,” he said. “I heard camp is not the easiest thing so I am staying focused and keeping my mind on lacrosse.”
